The 2024 to 2026 project controls adhesive coating film processes with manufacturing data. INTELLIZ is implementing autonomous control, in which the line corrects its setpoints, at film and paper sites.
Autonomous control, in which the line corrects its own drying temperature and coating gap setpoints, is part of a three-year national R&D project at INTELLIZ, a Korean AI machine vision company led by CEO Hyunsik Na. The project, titled "R&D to develop an intelligent automated control system for adhesive coating film manufacturing processes using manufacturing data," runs from 2024 to 2026. Beyond inspection to find defects, it uses data to address the process setpoints linked to those defects. INTELLIZ is implementing this autonomous control at film and paper sites. The company's video series covered it in Defect Clinic EP.05. Published literature also links the coating gap to quality. A 2015 paper in the Journal of the Korean Society for Precision Engineering said that in slot die coating, insufficient straightness or roundness of the backup roll can change the coating gap and leave the coated surface uneven in the running or width direction. INTELLIZ has built a record in film foreign matter and bubble inspection and received a rating of suitable in an external evaluation for intelligent root processes. Details are in the film defect inspection case, and preparation before imaging in the film imaging preparation guide. In 2023, separately from this project, INTELLIZ was selected for the AI-based vision inspection solution demonstration project for defect verification in paper and adhesive coating processes.
